The government has announced plans (10/05/12) to crack down on those who drive while under the influence of drugs. Legislation unveiled in the Queen’s Speech will create a specific drug driving offence.

Driving licence rules will be changing from 19 January 2013 in accordance to the Directive 2006/126/EC of The European Parliament and of The Council, along with a new format of driving licence, which will be issued in the UK by the DVLA.

Company car drivers are more likely to have received speeding points than other road users, claims a leading vehicle hire firm.

A survey of 127 fleet operators carried out by Brake’s Fleet Safety Forum appears to highlight a less than thorough approach to eyesight checks.

Remember, if you drive a bus or a coach and you gained your vocational licence prior to 10th September 2008, you will need to have completed your 35 hours’ training prior to 9 September 2013 if you want to continue to drive professionally beyond that date.

Volvo UK has welcomed the announcement from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) which means its new V60 Hybrid Plug-in will be classed as a ‘hybrid' for tax purposes when it arrives next year.

Blue Light Aware is the title of an excellent short video designed to make drivers aware of how to respond to the presence of emergency service vehicles displaying blue lights (and often two tone horns as well).

Under the new Continuous Insurance Enforcement law it's an offence to be the keeper of an uninsured vehicle, rather than just to drive when uninsured.
